Eating at home more!

December 10th, 2009 at 10:01 pm

We use to go out to dinner almost every night. We did not spend a lot of money. Most dinners were under $20 for two, plus a good tip. However, I can see that we are really saving money by eating at home more often. Lucky for me, my husband likes to cook, cause I really don't.
I had a no use gas day yesterday and the stock market went up, so $3 more to the challenge.
Prev. total $16,574.00
today 3.00
new total $16,577.00

The key that makes it easy is meal planning, so you always have ingredients on hand and so are less tempted by the easy way out of going out to eat.

Eating at home really does save a lot. Five nights a week equals $100 you can save! But you know that - you can count and pretty well, too! Wink Way to go!! Yeah, what are you eating? Nosey minds wanna know.

Well, once or twice a week, we have breakfast for dinner. You know, like pancakes or omeletes. We also love spagetti and meatballs. I am a hamburger lover also and we almost always have steak on sundays. (I buy it on sale, $2.99 per steak) Once in a while we have chicken or pork chops. I am a meat lover, but do not like vegetables at all. I prefer my food very plain. I am a funny eater and have been since birth!!

Oh boy, I love meat too but I also love my vegetables! I'd be so lost without them!

There's no doubt that eating at home leads to one of the biggest money savers around... I really do worry about some of my friends who absolutely cannot cook. If a situation ever arose where they HAD to cook, either because they didn't have money or the restaurants were unavailable, they would have no insurance that they could even eat decently! I like to dine out, sure, but cooking is an important skill!
