Last normal paycheck??

I write my husband's paycheck out on Mondays because he usually works on the weekends. Yesterday might have been his last normal paycheck for a while.
He has never been without work in the 32 years that we have been married.
However, he is almost finished with the house he has been building and he has no other houses lined up to build.
We could build a spec house, but there are hundreds of new houses in this area, just sitting, waiting to sell.
So, we will just wait, hoping that the economy will pick up.
I won 4 games of mah jong yesterday, so I will add that to my challenge money.

    Can he do repair work or side jobs...make cabinets or something? Maybe he needs to advertise in some way to let people know he's available. Good luck!

    This would be the perfect time for him to relax a little, and do some of those "home chores" that always seem to be rearing their ugly heads.

    I was just thinking this would be a little vacation for him and gamecock beat me to the punch. I sure things will pick back up for him

    You have described him as such a hard worker. It doesn't sound like he even has any of those "home chores" to do because he never rests. He gets them done even when working long hours on his home-building. Do you think he even knows how to take an unfocused vacation whose end is undefined?

    The good thing is that you have a solid savings that will allow you to sit tight for a while. That puts you ahead of many who are struggling to survive. Knowing what a hard worker your dh is, I think it's only a matter of time before at least some small jobs come through, even if they are just repair jobs. Things always break.

    I am sure he will get some "fix it up" jobs. Yes, he can take a little vacation too. But, he will go bonkers if he has to sit around and do nothing!!
