A frugal day

June 11th, 2008 at 07:40 pm

I had a very frugal day yesterday. I spent no money. I used no gasoline. I did not even go out for supper last night, instead, we had breakfast for dinner. So, I figured i saved at least $20 by staying home and I will add that to my challenge.
Prev. total $15,344.00
today 20.00
new total $15,364.00

I have been lurking for a long time in the saving advice forum. I don't mean to be rude, but you seem to not do anything. Your husband works and must do well, but you seem to be a shut in. It is not hard to not spend money when you play bridge all day and do nothing....it is really not that impressive.

Ron, are you kidding? It's very EASY to spend money when you don't go to a job, which I think is what you're focusing on here. Staying in and taking part in free entertainment like playing cards is a good way to keep from shopping for entertainment.

Julie employs a lot of strategies for saving money, and she's done a great job. Maybe you don't think it's impressive, but most of us are not here to impress each other ... or criticize each other.

Ron, I use to work very hard as a waitress. But I mostly had to work nights cause tips are not as good in the daytime, plus I was head waitress. That meant I had to work the shift when someone called in sick, which happens a lot. Finally, my husband asked me to quit cause he was tired of being home alone at night.
I did work a few part time jobs, but at my age, jobs are hard to get.
Instead I focus on helping my husband and doing all his bookwork.

Julie, I think that is at least twice in the past month that you guys didn't go out to dinner. That's getting to be a habit.

I think you have a fruitful life, Julie!!! You know that I know all about getting rude posts- people that make up stuff because they are jealous- I notice- they never actually join the forum and participate- I wich they would, and maybe they would like it here.
