When did Tide start costing so much.

February 9th, 2008 at 10:13 pm

Someone mentioned to me that they had bought Tide on sale, instead of paying $10 a box!! When did it go to $10 a box? I have used Trend for years and years. In one store it costs 99 cents and in the other store, it cost $1.09. It works just fine too!! Oh my gosh, I am shocked!

One of the companies that Hubby worked for used to make additives that went into Tide. I guess the cost of all ingredients produced is going up. Crazy, isn't it?

Ima: Where do you buy Trend? I haven't seen that product for a long time. It's really a decent product.

I used to be a loyal customer of Tide, but there's no way I'm paying $10 a box for it. Now I just get whatever's on sale.

I was loyal to Tide too. But dh nag nag nagged me. I think we might still be getting Tide, but the powder version. It's probably generic. I just don't remember. It's one of those things where he probably switched to generic to see if I would notice. Certainly the kind of thing we would only buy on sale. VEry expensive.

Likewise, Tide, I think is still nice to have on hand for tougher stains. But I give in to dh; not necessary for every wash.

Dh insists on Tide. I'm going to try to sneak in the no name brand and conduct a test!

I sneak in fake cereal, laundry soap, hand soap, and even Hamburger Helper. My BF has a thing about fake or store brands. They taste the same if not better.
His uncle told us that at the bread factory the same bread is comming off the line, they just change the bags from Name Brand to Store Brand. I thought that would have taught him.

same is true for milk and just about everything. I worked at a tortelia factory and every now and then they would stop the conveyor belt and change packages and then start up the belt again. Same exact product, just different labels.

I bought a store brand generic oatmeal (old fashioned) and my husband immediately complained that it didn't taste as good as Quaker Oats brand. I did what some of you did, when the box of Quaker Oats was finished, I poured in the store brand and he never complained. There might be certain things that might taste a little different for instance tomato sauce, but for the most part has little taste difference.
