Washed dishes by hand!

Gosh, I just washed dishes by hand. This is the first time in about 11 years. I think that lighting hit the dishwasher the other day. It knocked the circuit breaker off. I turned it on, but there is no water getting to the dishwasher.
I wonder which is cheaper, washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher?
I don't know if I will get it repaired or just get a new one. This one is about 5 years old.
I used coupons and saved $11 on groceries yesterday, plus I walked a mile, so I have $12 to add to my challenge money.

    We do that each time we eat, all our lives.
    One of the sacrifices of living in NYC. Appliances we definitely can afford, but space for them is a luxury. Not to metion landlords that go bezerk at the suggestion of it.

    I would kill for a washing machine! I would put it in a living room if I had to. But the landlord is soo vehemently opposed. Frown

    I've heard you use more water washing dishes by hand. Provided that when you use the dishwasher, you're doing a full load, it's more economical.
