A good time to build

Did you know that right now is a good time to build a house? Because things have slowed down, building materials are the lowest in years. Any of you thinking of building, this is the time to do it. We are in the process of looking for a lot for a spec house. Materials have come way down in cost, but everyone is sitting on their high priced land. We like to build something affordable, so we need a lot with a decent price. Nothing around here under $70,000 for a small lot.

    $70,00 for a lot?! You need to come to PA. That is more than we paid for our whole house. LOL!

    I can't believe how much lots are going for. Some years back we could have bought a whole house and lot for $70,000 and below. It's outrageous what stuff costs today. I often wonder how young people can afford housing.

    Oh yes, we paid $65000 for the last lot. You can't find a trailer lot for under $50,000 and many view lots are $150,000.

    I've seen 1 acre lots (minimum size needed to build new) going for $300k in my area.

    Two block up the road from me, rather small lots START at the mid $150,000. range. It is crazy! There is no way I could afford to purchase my house now. I have just over three acres and a nice house and barn. The taxes are getting ridiculous, too.

    Here in our neck of the woods (SW Utah) a $70,000 lot would be a steal!
    Lots here are in the 6 digits.
