   Growing up in the country, I love the sounds of birds. Unfortunately, here, most of the sounds in the summer are masked by the hundreds of air conditioners kicking on outside. That, and those grackles are about the only birds out in the heat and they sound like they are strangling. And the fact that the city has to kill the bugs with spray every evening or so. Probably drives the birds that eat those away. But we often get some splashing in the birdbath. I know I'm not supposed to leave water because of the mosquitoes, but the cardinals and mockingbirds are nice to have around. I am thinking of getting something to hang for finches? I've seen those in the mountains fluttering around the eaves where people hang feeders. I'd love to have some around here if they live around here. If I can keep the squirrels out of the feeders. Don't blame you a bit--enjoy the birds!

   Yep, I feed the birds too. It does cost a little, but we get so much joy out of watching the birds that the cost is worthwhile to us!

   We have a whole nature center right outside our livingroom window. We get so many different kinds of birds. We also keep a journal on all the different birds and their different likes in seed. Awesome.
