New Year's eve, eve!!

December 30th, 2006 at 09:30 pm

Well, the year is almost over and for the most part it has been a good year. i will be so happy when we finally close on that darn house. I still have no date for closing. It seems funny to keep paying the power and water bill and put propane in the tank, for a house that is just sitting!! And it makes me sick to think of all the interest we are losing. We will have a big celebration the day we finally close on that property.
I think I have decided one of my goals for 2007 is to take a real vacation. We have not been on one since 2000. My husband is always too busy to take a week off. We are going to use a little of the profit we make on the house to take a trip. Maybe to the beach!
I went ahead and did my grocery shopping today instead of tomorrow. I saved $3 using my advantage card, so I will add that to my challenge. I am looking forward to starting over on Monday morning, Jan. 1, 2007.
prev. total $20,020.00
today 3.00
new total $20,023.00

Psst Julie, your new total shows 40 instead of 20 is that right?

Why are utilities so high for an unoccupied house? I mean, I wouldn't think that things would actually be used. You don't need to have the fridge on and no one's using the bathroom. Or did I miss something.

I hit the wrong number! The utilities are not that high, but I hate paying to heat an empty house. We don't want the water pipes to freeze. When we sell a house we usually just have the new owners transfer the utilities over to their name, instead of turning them off and back on.

Oh right I forget that places actually get cold in the winter. Smile That makes sense.

Good luck with a vacation in 2007! It is very important to get away once and a while and I can't think of anyone who deserves it more!Smile
