I just read Tina's blog today and I totally agree with what she said. I have always been treated like I was "poor" I used to have bank tellers come into the restaurant and they would hardly speak to me, cause I was the "poor" waitress and they were dressed to the nines!
(Most of them could not afford to leave a tip, they spent all their money on clothes)
I bet my bank account was a lot bigger than any of theirs. Not that I cared, but I don't think you should treat people anyway, but kindly!
I agree with Tina

We all form first impressions, which can be extremely deceiving- as youre attesting. I think Dr. Phils new houseguests will be very enlightened as they come to realize that underneath it all we are all human and our contributions all important in some way.

I look at it this way, if people are willing to throw money away (they do pay a 5 cent per can/bottle deposit when they buy their soda and beer), I'm more than willing to pick it up.
I'm sure most people who see me picking up cans must think I'm (a) unemployed, (b) homeless, etc.
I doubt that the first thing that comes to their minds is "Oh, he's thrifty." And like you, I know I have more money in the bank than most of the people making these rash judgements.

I haven't had anyone look down at me that way yet.... Probably because I usually wear a nice looking polo-like shirt and khaki Docker-like slacks. No, I didn't pay for these. My employer provides them for free, believe it or not! Including the dry cleaning! Yes, I am fortunate that way right now.
