I agree with Tina

October 27th, 2006 at 05:14 pm

I just read Tina's blog today and I totally agree with what she said. I have always been treated like I was "poor" I used to have bank tellers come into the restaurant and they would hardly speak to me, cause I was the "poor" waitress and they were dressed to the nines!
(Most of them could not afford to leave a tip, they spent all their money on clothes)
I bet my bank account was a lot bigger than any of theirs. Not that I cared, but I don't think you should treat people anyway, but kindly!

Lack of maturity coupled with lack of compassion often renders folks unable to see past their first opinions...and how unfortunate for them- I am sure they have missed many opportunities because of it.

We all form first impressions, which can be extremely deceiving- as youre attesting. I think Dr. Phils new houseguests will be very enlightened as they come to realize that underneath it all we are all human and our contributions all important in some way.

I just wanted to add that it can happen vice versa. I know a friend who was handed down clothes by someone and they were nice. When she wore them with the talent of cuting her own hair, she looked like she was made of money.

ima, one of my favorite quotes is "The best revenge is living well." i think it more than applies when people treat others shabbily.

One of my hobbies is collecting cans and bottles for the 5 cents per can redemption. I use this money instead of getting money from the ATM machine (and thus saving the ATM fees, plus this money is tax free!). So far this year I've redeemed $265 and Uncle Sam isn't getting a cent of that. Smile
I look at it this way, if people are willing to throw money away (they do pay a 5 cent per can/bottle deposit when they buy their soda and beer), I'm more than willing to pick it up.

I'm sure most people who see me picking up cans must think I'm (a) unemployed, (b) homeless, etc.

I doubt that the first thing that comes to their minds is "Oh, he's thrifty." And like you, I know I have more money in the bank than most of the people making these rash judgements.

Looks like they caught Jones dis-ease (could't keep up!). Is it more important to look well or be well and well off? Here's a hint: looks are deceiving Smile

Bank tellers? Getting a superiority complex? Hahahahah!

I haven't had anyone look down at me that way yet.... Probably because I usually wear a nice looking polo-like shirt and khaki Docker-like slacks. No, I didn't pay for these. My employer provides them for free, believe it or not! Including the dry cleaning! Yes, I am fortunate that way right now. Smile

Some people will never get rid of the the bad habit of labeling people and treating people according to the labels they put. This is lack of common sense.
