I have been reading the meter everyday and making notes. I have turned the air conditioning up to 76, but my husband complains at night that it is too hot to sleep. I turn the air upstairs off until it gets unbearable in the afternoon. I have really tryed this week, but I keep using about 47 kwh per day. The weather has been in the high 90's, so i guess that is why my usage is so big. As long as I have enough budgeted in my envelopes, I guess i should not complain, but it has been nice having that extra money from the electric bill to put into my challenge money.!!
Not much headway

However, I have found a few things that keep the house from overheating, thus keeping the AC from kicking on.
One, I don't run the television if I don't have to. Same goes for the computer monitor. CRT televisions and monitors are NOTORIOUS for emitting large amounts of heat. (That's why we will eventually switching to LCD flat panels. Eventually. *sighs* Now would be nicer, but I have bigger priorities right now.)
Two, I turn off the computers when they are not in use. Drives the roommate crazy, because he'll leave it on when he leaves for work, and I turn it off when I get up. But he'll get over it.
Third, how's the weatherstripping on your doors and windows? I've found that even one gap in the weatherstripping can let in an sizeable amount of heat/cold, depending on the season. You might want to check them to see if things are wearing thin. If they are, replacing around doors ins't too tough. (The windows might be tougher, though. Never had to replace the 'stripping around them myself, so I don't know. *shrugs*) You can get a roll of it at Lowes, Home Depot or Ace Hardware for not too much money. Heck, I think even Wal-Mart carries it. Just ask around if you can't find it.
Hope this helps. Hang in there!
