Sunday, Monday, Happy Days!!

April 20th, 2006 at 05:10 pm

I was invited to a 50's party last night. Everybody has to dress like the 50's, which means poodle skirts and shirts for the women,
I started checking these out at a site a friend told me about. An outfit will run about $80 before shipping. And that is just my outfit!!
I love to dress up and go to parties, but I hate to spend a fortune on something I will probably never wear again! Any suggestions??

You could always wear a casual fifties look instead, and that will probably be things that are already in your closet, or at least much cheaper! -
Rolled up jeans, long oxford shirt, white bobby sox, loafers, and your hair in a ponytail tied with a scarf - that says fifties to me as much as a poodle skirt.
Another option is to get some felt and make your own poodle skirt - they are very easy to create yourself. We did it for a play way, way back in high school.

Twin set sweaters are back in style..........or a cardigan with a sweater clip (anyone here remember those??) The sweaters could be worn again.

Any thrift stores in your area?? Good selection in ours here for things like this. Might need some tweaking to make it just right......but, I wouldn't pay $80.00 for something either!!

I remember sweater clips and bunny balls!! I lived in the fifties and never saw a poodle skirt!!

our daughternlaw just sewed outfits for our granddaughter cheerleader's class of girls, and the 3 teachers... they wore black skirts with pink poodles, sewed on them, pink tops, black and white oxfords, pony tails with pink scarfs... they looked great. they also, posed slouchly in the photos, good posture was not in back then... lol
